Just popping this message up here to say, no, we're not dead.
There is much to be done, but I have gone over the site today and applied some various tweaks to improve appearance and SEO.
Also, two new artists should be joining us soon. Talented ones at that.
The old MannkindMusic profiles have been cleaned up, updated and added to the site.
They can be seen
here.
Well, it's time to liven this place up a little with a nice piece of news: a few weeks ago, Mannkind worked closely with a Team Fortress 2 machinima group to write a theme for their TF2 series
"Misfits in a Hostile Environment".
The first/pilot episode
"Wakey Wakey!" was released yesterday and can be viewed in low quality here:
Part 1Part 2Also, if you like what you see, be sure to check out their Steam group
here. Hopefully we should be seeing a dedicated website for the series opening soon.
More updates along the way as we get them!
P.S. apologies for the lack of activity lately - the last announcement turned out to be more of a lie, didn't it? Well, over the coming weeks we'll be fleshing the site out with the old content, plus some new stuff, so stay tuned!
Content organization and other developments are being post-poned for now (mostly because of Christmas). Some new stuff should be up in the new year
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.
Well, after several months' downtime, we are finally back online with a nice shiny new domain and site. And I think it would be a good idea to take a brief look into the history of Mannkind...
It all began almost 2 years ago, during the first year of my IT course. At the time I was new to web development as a whole, but it didn't take me long to get a grip on the basics, and thus, MannkindMusic was born:
The site was hosted on a free webhost -
1500mb.com (which appears to be dead now) - so site functionality was severely limited and there was basically no chance of setting up forums and the like. This hardly lasted and it only served as more practice for me.
So, I showed it to my brother (Chris), and we started contemplating a remake of the site and a *real* webhost. A few weeks down the line, and MannkindMusic v2.0 was created and hosted generously by
Ultima Development Laboratories:
This one lasted for some time, though it was still tacky and most of it was purely HTML/CSS/Javascript based, meaning it had next to no dynamic content. It was later re-designed and the content & forums were updated, which made it MannkindMusic 3.0:
By this point, we had a few extra members, including
Beebeedee and
Snik. Since Snik is all about stencil art rather than music, the site's name and original concept didn't really make much sense because we were showcasing music
and artwork. Nonetheless, it continued for a while, until we ran into host problems, which at the time, seemed to spell the end of Mannkind!
..but that wasn't the case. Now, several months down the line, we are back, hosted by UDL once more, with the name "MannkindStudio", which should better suit whatever content we can (hopefully) show off.
That being said; welcome to MannkindStudio
